Ask a Scientist at UCSB

Today, I registered as one of the first members of the Ask a Scientist chapter at UCSB. Ask a Scientist is a new nationwide program that will connect the general public with scientists to get any burning questions answered. The goal is to attend local functions (e.g., festivals, farmer’s market), set up a booth, and be available to answer anything and everything. If we don’t know the answer, we just say “I don’t know,” since a major aspect of being a scientist is actually not knowing. Hopefully, we’ll get this program at UCSB up and running, but you can help by liking our Facebook page (, following us on Twitter (@UCSBScientists – already active!), or checking out our tumblr ( – still a work in progress). Hopefully, you’ll give any one of these a glance – and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
